Too Much Religion?

Is There Too Much Religion in the World?

Inaugural lecture given by Bishop John Saxbee

Date:Thursday, 18 October 2012, at 10am until 12 noon
Venue:Ludlow Mascall Centre
Cost:£8 (including coffee)

Bishop John needs little introduction to Ludlow. After posts in the Diocese of Exeter, he moved to Ludlow on his appointment as Archdeacon in 1992. Between 1992 and 1994 he was also priest-in-charge of Wistanstow and Acton Scott. He was appointed Suffragan Bishop of Ludlow in 1994 whilst remaining Archdeacon of Ludlow. He relinquished both posts when he took up his role as Bishop of Lincoln in 2002 where he remained until retirement in 2011.

In his lecture, Bishop John will be arguing that the two themes, religion and faith, which are usually seen as simply synonymous, are in fact subtly different and subject to being interwoven in numerous, complex and unexpected ways.
