The Trustees
Any
fundraising organisation enjoying the confidence of its supporters
must have a good book of rules. The Conservation Trust's book of
rules is a Deed which has been approved by the Charity Commission.
The Deed requires strict observance of good accounting practice.
The Trust is controlled by its Trustees who must be
not less than three nor more than ten in number.
Although they are all volunteers, they are obliged, under charity
law, to act as prudent businessmen would in promotion of the Trust's
aims. No Trustee can profit from the Trust. Trustees include
appointees of The Parochial Church Council, Ludlow Town Council, and
Ludlow Civic Society (Ludlow's long established amenity group). The
intention is that the very best talent should be made available to
the Trust. The Trustees appoint their Chairman from among
themselves.
To ensure a constant flow of new blood, Trustees
must retire by rotation every three years and cannot serve for more
than six years. The Chairman can only hold office for three years.
Contact will be maintained with the interested public by holding a
regular General Meeting.
